Session 4: Assisgnment one question

Question:
Find one example of Internet marketing that you think is particularly effective and one example that is ineffective.

Answer:
Company that are particularly effective, i would like to discuss the company ' Europe Asia Holidays ', they are an angency for providing service such as booking flight from difference airline, bus, train tickets overseas, reservation of hotel, motel, backbackers or any package set. When you go to their website, you can use the search engine, insert the place, date, time, or any journey, all information will be generate automatically including the price of each item and total, payment can be done in internet or later by person, the process takes 10 mins only which is very easy to everyone.

Advantage is what they provide a wide range of Airline, hotel, transportation company etc... also, you can select the price, they offer you two option: 1) the cheapest tickets, 2) no matter the price but with confirmed seat at once. After that, a details list shows all Airline or tranportation matching with your search, customer are easy to found what they need, with all comparsion and choices, you just need to click go into further details.

Their target customers are the teenages, backbackers, or some one who have a full journey plan (they can just give them the plan, they can advise to you any transportation can be use, let say from London to Paris, how many choices you can have, by flight, ship or train with price & time schedule for selection). Their internet marketing indeed can save a lot of time & workload by people, finally the cost minimize, that's why they can offer cheap price on all item, it is effective for all parties.

You will see them when you search 'travel' in yahoo.com.hk: they will appear in the SEM (Search Engine Marketing) side.

Secondly, i will discuss the company which is particularly ineffective, my choice is ' Warcoal' they are a worldwide brand for selling underwear, swimwear, nightwear, in both basic & lingerie item.

I did go into their website founds that, mainly they are promoting new item for exist and coming season, updating the news of advertisement of their brand & shops. There didn't have enough interaction area for customer for enquiry or comments, except you be the members. It is not attractive for a new customer to visit the website by just watching the new item without prices, although their pictures are very nice.

They have a good presentation on the website, but i don't think all of the customer would like to be the member at the 1st visit or even the 2nd or 3rd time. I propose them:
1) to create a new area for all customer to raise question or any enquiry, lady are very concern about the fitting or how to improve shaping, there may helps a lot for attacking the customer when they get back reply by personal. Then, customer may go to their shop for fitting, as the disadvantage is the customer will not purchase before they fit it by personal, especially in Hong Kong.
2) to offer the price list beside each item, it is very important for the customer nowadays to get price infomation from the internet. Or discount offer as well at the end of the season.
3) 'after service' column, it is a important area for customer loyality.

This is my opinion, for more details about Warcoal, you can go to:

If the company are selling something very small such as button, bow, very small lace etc... which will contains thousand style within a company, it is necessary as too much item to remember, a ERP system is very helpful to check the details.

Second reason, is the number types of goods within a company, as describe above for small item are not expensive, the transaction is frequency everyday, besides, such a trading company, there may provide a huge number type of goods, again, it is much more easy for those company did have ERP system.
